Here’s a brief overview of some important information to know as you’re preparing for a fishing trip in Pensacola, FL.

Greater amberjack

The following information is specific to fishers who will be angling for greater amberjack:

  • The fishing season for greater amberjack is open the entire month of May and open from August 1st – November 31st!
  • The recreational minimum size limit for greater amberjack is 34 inches fork length.
  • The recreational bag limit for greater amberjack is one fish per angler per day.
  • Any for-hire captains and crew hired in accordance with federal law are not allowed to retain the bag limit of greater amberjack, red snapper or groupers while under charter.

For all reef fish, any for-hire reef fish vessels are required to comply with the more restrictive regulations (federal or state) when fishing for reef fish in state waters.
